On the very top with snow guarantee
At an altitude of 1.740m, Obertauern offers you a snow reliable winter holiday from end of november until beginning of may. The center of Obertauern is surrounded by 100 km of slopes with extraordinary views. 26 clever arranged modern cable cars and lifts offer the possibility to ski the entire Tauern round clockwise or counterclockwise until you return to your starting point. The entrance to the legendary towern round is right behind the Appartement House Dr. Aufmesser.
The ski carousel for the whole family
The snow paradise Obertauern offers slopes for all kind of Skier or Snowboarder. 61 kilometres are declared easy (blue trail signs), 35 kilometres as medium (red trail signs) and 4 kilometres as difficult (black trail signs). Since the winter season 2017/2018 the traditional “Tauern round” will be complemented by two brand new “Tauern rounds for kids” tailored to the ability and condition of kids and teens.
For all of those who prefer to be “off Pist” and respectfully face the challenge the nature offers, there is a wide rage of freeriding options with varying degrees of difficulty. And if that is not enough, you exploit yourself while snowbiking, snowkiting, ski jumping or air boarding.

The Skiing Area
The perfect location in the midst of a mountain massif that surrounds the town center in a circle of 100 kilometers of pistes makes Obertauern the ski metropolis of Austria. Among other things, the legendary Tauern Tour takes you to the demanding tour “Super Seven” (marked S7), which takes you to the seven highest points of the ski area with spectacular descents.
Ski buses or cars are not needed in Obertauern. Here is “ski in ski out” at every point of the village. The skiing pleasure takes you up to 2,313 meters altitude. 26 modern cable cars and lifts ensure that you can move fast even on busy days! With 1 gondola lift, 18 chairlifts, 1 chair / cabin combination lift and 6 ski lifts.
If you prefer to stay in the “flat” area, there are 31 km of groomed cross-country trails or the large snowkite area for the really brave ones.
